Cranberry Orange Cream Cheese

I’ve already told you how I feel about Valentine’s Day, but as my children don’t seem to share my opinion, here I am… My kids are so ridiculously excited that the big day is finally here!

My 12-year old has her first boyfriend, although my husband warned her that if she called him that again she was going to be grounded for a month. Truth be told I’m not too keen on the idea either…

My 7 year old has a party at school with these super cute Valentines she made that I found on Pinterest. They only took 3 people like and hour and a half to make 20 of them… I was thoroughly over the experience when she announced, “These are the best Valentines I’ve ever made, and I can’t wait to show my friends because they are all just going to love them.” Suddenly it seemed like an hour and a half well spent!

And my son has been “going steady” with his girlfriend for like 4 months now. *Sigh*

When did they get old enough for all this lovey dovey stuff?

Since they don’t seem to share my disdain for the holiday, here I am whipping up a special Valentine’s Day breakfast to let them know just how much I love them!

Cranberry Orange Cream Cheese

8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 tbs. orange zest
¼ c. dried cranberries, chopped

Blend all the ingredients together and serve. If you want to serve it later, form it into the desired shape and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Don’t forget there’s still time to enter to win a gift basket of award-winning Sartoti cheeses.

Hope you have a fabulous Valentine’s Day celebrating with the ones you love!

Oh-oh.. twelve years old and has a boyfriend… is this what I have to look forward to with my daughter in a few years? I totally understand your hubby’s demand. LOL! My kids are super excited about Valentine’s Day too. Actually I think I had more fun as a kid on Valentine’s day than as an adult. LOL! Less pressure. :) this cream cheese looks wonderful and I would certainly eat it any day of the year. :) Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!! ~ Ramona

Jen., I totally agree with your feelings on Valentine’s and as a parent of a 12 year old girl.
We have a daughter who is 16and we made it clear to her that we will not oppose her idea of having a boyfriend but not until she gets into the University and have a full proof plan of her life. We are lucky that she also agrees with us and doing great until now.
I will say you are also one loving mother who made this delicious spread to start off their day. come by to in the evening to see what I made of my daughter’s choice.

I know I’ll be crazy with this already. I love cranberries and this is such a wonderful treat… I’m afraid I put 1/2 inch thickness of cream cheese on bread. =P My kids are having a party in class today. Both kids were really excited. Feel bad that I’m not doing anything at home…hmm…

Isn’t Pinterest quite addicting? (I’ve lost hours staring/pinning things that I’ll probably never get around to making.)
Even if though you’re not into Valentine’s Day (I’m not either), this dip looks like a lovely way to celebrate! There are always great books around to replace those predictable romantic comedies. 😀

Going steady…is there an ID bracelet in the mix yet? Bet ID bracelets aren’t in or if they are it’s because they’re back. Yikes. I like your quick cranberry, orange and cream cheese combo. It’s festive but not overly valentine-y.

This looks fantastic! Orange and cranberry is one of my favorite combinations, and I’d have loved to wake up to this smeared on a bagel this morning :) Hope you made it through the drama of your kids’ Valentine’s Days unscathed. There were a lot of crying teenage girls at the school I work at today. Ugh.

Ooh, all I need to do now is make a non-onion version of my bagels and this would just be the perfect topping for them! I love it 😀 Did you try cream cheese with orange oil in before too? That really packs in a bit of zing!

Whew, that is a little intense. For one, I’m glad my daughter is home-schooled and two, my son goes to middle school but girls aren’t a priority as of yet. I will savor these days for as long as they last which won’t be long I’m sure! Great recipe, thanks for sharing!
