Three Little Piglets Rewind

As a blogger, it’s easy to sometimes wonder who the heck (if anybody) actually reads what you write!

Because we’re so focused on the here and now, sometimes old posts just get put up on the shelf like that magazine you had every intention of going back and flipping through.

Joanne over at Fifteen Spatulas tagged me in what’s called The Seven Links Project, which is a way for bloggers to reflect on what they’ve done and learned during their time as a blogger.

It’s exactly what it sounds like, a list of seven links…

1. Post I’m the most proud of:  Bacon and Chive Scones

This post was insanely hard for me to write! It’s so much easier to be a smart ass than to be truly honest about what’s going on in my life sometimes…

2. Most Popular:  Dried Cranberry and Pecan Chocolate Chip Cookies

These made the Foodbuzz Top 9 which certainly did hurt any! Plus they were ridiculously good!

3. Most Beautiful:  Pink Lemonade Cupcakes

I am still floored by how many people are crazy for these cupcakes!

4. Post that enjoyed a success I was surprised by:  Spiced Fig and Pear Preserves

Until those cookies came along, this was sitting pretty in the top spot! I love it, but of all the things I’ve made I wouldn’t have expected this one to be so successful.

5. Most Helpful:  Meltaway Peppermint Meringues

Because everybody should know the steps to making good meringues!

6. Most Controversial: Hmmm… I’m about as non-confrontational as they come, so I’ll go with most personal. I Resolve Not to…Make Resolutions

I was kind of on the fence when I wrote this – debating whether or not I was heading too far away from food… in the end, I’m glad I wrote it, even if it was only for me!

7. Post that I felt didn’t get the attention it deserved: Danish Blue Cheese and Pear Salad with Maple Vinaigrette

This is such a stunning salad, and didn’t get nearly the response that I thought it would. :(

Thanks for taking a lovely little stroll down memory lane with me today!

For all of you bloggers, what recipe are you most proud of?

Being a relatively new visitor to your blog, this is such a great way to find out a bit more about it and see some of your favourite posts! Those pink lemonade cupcakes are just gorgeous!

  2. 3

I like being able to see what people I read think about what they’ve done. The cupcakes were definitely stunning. I’m looking forward to what the next year of blogging brings. :)

  3. 4

Lovely post! I hadn’t seen those scones, and the post to go with it was very touching – I can relate in many ways (5’9.5″, broad built, etc.) and I know the courage it must have taken to put it all out there.
Oh, and there’s a little something waiting for you at my blog today! :)

It was a little difficult, and after I clicked post I thought to myself what have I just done!? Thanks so much for the Fabulous Blog Award!

Yes, you are read! Every morning, with my cup of tea, I read my blogs. It’s like getting a little letter from home. I save my favorite recipes, laugh a lot and spend my morning with you.

Mary, that is one of the nicest compliments I’ve received in a long time! Thank you so much for brightening my day!

Thank you for your note, I so enjoyed receiving it. I loved your cupcakes, I have never piped anything and would like to know how to do it. I’m trying to take a class at Michael’s but none fit into my work schedule. Could you do a class one day just telling what tip, the recipe (frosting) how it can be colored, flavored. Nothing huge, just your normal blog. It would be greatly appreciated. I love making cupcakes, but they look like homemade ones, not the beautiful ones you make.

  5. 10

I loved your pink lemonade cupcakes! Great choice!

Sometimes we should take a moment to reflect and the 7 links actually push us to do it. Nice to see your accomplishments all lined up like this. Very versatile and delicious posts! Enjoy the weekend.

  7. 12

As someone who misses large chunks of “real life,” I love the look back at some of the posts. The blog has changed so much! You’re really doing great with it.

  8. 13

Mmm these all look amazing, but I’m stuck on the bacon & chive scones, they sound delicious! I should do this just for myself. I haven’t even been blogging for a year yet and I can hardly remember half of what I’ve done. Great post!

Although I would join you in being proud of your scones, too, I’d also join you in being surprised at the salad response. It is a work of art. I, too, once made what I thought was a charming salad — warm squash on top of spinach with feta and a creamy lemon dressing — and not as great a reaction as I’d hoped. C’est la vie!

Its nice to look back at some of your own posts, after all we write for some viewership. Those pink lemonade cups and the pear salad looks good. We eat a lot of raw salad and I do add fruits to it.

  11. 18

I was not able to click your link to the salad.

  12. 19

I read every post, even if I don’t comment.

However a more pressing question is did you eat the 4th cupcake while hubs was at work? Saw that on FB and thought it was pretty funny. Sounds like something I would do to my husband.

As for recipe I am most proud of I would have to say is the vegan lemon cake I posted yesterday. I really like the light flavor of the lemon and the moistness of the cake.

I love reading these 7 links posts so I am glad you participated.

Luckily I didn’t have to! My daughter wanted something else for dessert so I didn’t even have to share! I told her I thought she’d finally lost her mind… That lemon cake did sound delicious!

  13. 21

Love looking back – I missed those gorgeous cupcakes :( Glad I got to find them now!

  14. 22

  16. 25

I know why everyone loves those cupcakes…they are WONDERFUL! Thanks for reminding us of some great recipes.

  17. 26

All of these posts look wonderful! You are right, that pear salad with the blue cheese deserved more attention, in fact I would love some! Hope you have a great weekend :)!

  18. 28

Your most beautiful post is certainly that! GREAT round-up!

  19. 29

Great 7 Jen. I went back to read the scone post. I have been on both sides of the weight coin. I was anorexic for a large part of my teens. Now I am heavy. So much of who were are is wrapped up in body image and self esteem. I know it must have taken a great deal of courage to click publish on that one. So from me, thank you. Everything else is wonderful as well. I am loving the new blog design and am thinking of making the switch to wordpress myself. Are you super happy with it? Am so curious.

  20. 31

What a terrific idea, and I like looking back at what you’ve written from the context of how you feel about your blog posts. I have to agree that your pear salad deserved more attention. I love the dressing!

  21. 32

The bacon chive scones are incredible… looking at them is making my mouth water. And those pink lemonade cupcakes — they’re definitely beautiful!

  22. 33

I am off to check out the bacon chive scones. You comments have me intrigued and they look delicious!

  23. 34

I love 7 Links posts! And I’m off to print your salad recipe…yum! Thanks for the sweet words of condolence! xo

  24. 35

I love all of your seven links, Jen! I really want to make those scones…like right now!!

  25. 36

I love your seven links! Those bacon chive scones look incredible. PS I recently discovered the spam folder in the comments section and you had a a comment in there (along with 9 other comments from bloggers I know). Terrible!!! I didn’t even know you had stopped by. Anyway, now that holiday time is over we should all get together sometime! We could even do something simple…like coffee or something.

No worries Joanne! I figured you were busy with the holidays still… and my spam filter does the same thing, so I have to check it daily.

Please leave some comment love!
