Italian Herb Dipping Sauce

Eating out is one of the first things to go when tightening my food bill.

As much as I know I need to do it, sometimes I miss the special little touches of a meal at a restaurant, especially when they bring you a hot loaf of bread and some flavored olive oil to dip it in.

This is a super simple way to enjoy all those great flavors at home. And since my husband just arrived home yesterday after a 4 ½ month long deployment, I’m all about simple!

When serving this to company or during the summer months when my herb garden is still growing, I definitely prefer to make this with fresh herbs. But since winter has finally come, even here in Georgia, dried herbs will have to do!

Italian Herb Dipping Sauce

Yields: 4 servings

Ingredients

¼ c. olive oil

1 clove garlic, minced

1 tsp. Italian seasoning

½ tsp. parsley

Pinch red pepper flakes

Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Heat the olive oil a small pan or skillet over med-low heat. Once warm add the garlic and herbs and cook 3-4 minutes until the garlic is cooked through. Pour into a pretty little serving dish and serve with hot rolls or bread.

Oh my gosh, you have no idea how much pleasure I take in dunking a good piece of crusty bread into a simple olive oil dip like this. I’m the kind of person that can live of bread alone, so for me, this is the ultimate treat. I like the red pepper flakes in here for a little kick!
